Beverly Engel, Executive Director, is a licensed
psychotherapist with 30 years experience specializing in working with abuse recovery.
She worked as Clinical Director and Asst. Director of one of the first shelters for
battered women in the Los Angeles area. She was also the Clinical Director of a
major Community Mental Health program and was the founder and Executive Director of
the Center for Adult Survivors of Sexual Abuse, one of the first such programs in
the U.S.
Beverly is the author of 20 books, most of which are on abuse recovery. Her books
and articles about abusive relationships have been featured in numerous magazines and
newspapers, including O magazine, Psychology Today, Cosmopolitan, Ladies Home Journal,
The Chicago Tribune, The Washington Post and the LA Times.
Beverly has shared her expertise worldwide and her books have been translated into many
languages, including Spanish, Turkish, Chinese, and Korean.
