Women
and children in Santa Maria need your help!
Give now to support
Domestic Violence Solutions Mariposa House!
In 2004, thanks to
a tremendous outpouring of support from the
community, Domestic Violence Solutions for Santa
Barbara County (DVS) was able to open Mariposa
House, our north county transitional
housing program for survivors of domestic
violence.
In two short
years, Mariposa House has helped
14 women and 29 children create new lives for
themselves.
Now, however, a
hidden plumbing leak has caused the floor of one
apartment to fall through the ceiling of the
apartment belowmaking two apartments
uninhabitable. We urgently need to repair these
apartments so that they can house waiting women
and children. In addition, we need to renovate
the remaining seven apartments to prevent future
incidents like this one. Because Mariposa
House is a 40-year-old building, all of
the apartments need plumbing and electrical work,
new floors, bath and kitchen fixtures, cabinets,
and paint. The total cost for this repair work is
$270,000.
The good news is that we already raised
$85,000. We need YOUR help to raise the remaining
$185,000.
In addition, we
are in urgent need of skilled contractors,
craftsmen, and building materialsbecause
all of the goods and services that can be donated
reduce the amount of cash we need to raise.
Please help! Mariposa
House is the means through which
battered women and children in north Santa
Barbara County find the support and strength that
enables them to become financially independent.
It is where they get their wings and learn to fly.
Three ways to contribute: Use your
